STOCK SALE.

AT FRANKTON YARDS. OX BEEF FIRMER. Ox beef quotations showed a marked rise at the weekly stock sale at the Frankton yards yesterday and the values ruling for cow beef were very firm at late rates. Last week's advanced prices for sheep were maintained but pigs were easier. There was a large yarding of beef, a good yarding of sheep and a small yarding of pigs. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report having held their weekly stock sale in the Frankton yards on Tuesday, when they had large entries of both fat sheep and beet. Sheep met with good competition, and sold on a par with last week's quotations. Fat cattle also remained firm at late rates. There was a good entry of vealers, prices being slightly easier, and a moderate yarding of baconers and porkers sold at late rates, while a heavy yarding of stores and vveaners met with keen competition. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Hamilton, report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton yards on Tuesday. Cattle. —The demand for an average yarding of ox beef was steady, last week's prices being fully maintained. Although a fairly heavy yarding of cow beef was offered, the demand was keen and prices showed an appreciable Improvement on last week's quotations, competition was especially brisk on the prime quality cows, a pen of which, offered on account of Mr A. 1. Batty, of Morrinsville, average £7 4s. There was a bigger yarding of store cows, but competition was dull and prices remained at about last week's level. Sheep.—Competition on an average yarding of fat ewes and wethers was brisk, values remaining firm at late quotations. Lambs were also offered In average numbers, and prices are a little firmer. A heavy yarding of store wethers sold at very satisfactory prices. We quote: Prime fat wethers 19s to £1 ss, fat 15s 6d to 18s 6d. light 13s 6d to 15s 3d; fat ewes 16s to 18s 6d, others 14s 3d to 16s; prime fat lambs 14s 6d to 15s 110, fat 12s to 14s. others up to Ils 6d. A line of 270 store wethers sold at 12s, others Us lOd.

Pigs.—The yarding of fat pigs was of about the usual number. Competition was fair and values are reported steady at late rates. A further Increase in stores and weaners was realised, although a much heavier yarding came forward. Heavy baconers £2 16s to £3 4s; lighter baconers and heavy porkers, £2 7s to £2 15s; light porkers, £2 2s to £2 6s; choppers, £2 14s; good stores. £1 Is to £1 9s; others. 18s to £1; slips, 14s to 17s 6d; weaners. Fat sheep an average yarding. Prices were on a par with last week's rates. Unfinished sheep were a shade lower. Extra heavy prime wethers made up to 23s 9d; medium weight prime wethers, 20s to 22s 3d; light and unfinished wethers, 13s 9d to 16s 6d; extra heavy fat ewes, up to 20s; ordinary quality fat ewes, 15s 6d; extra prime fat lambs, 18s 9d; medium quality, 12s to 14 s.

Store Sheep: A fair yarding of store wethers and for these there was keen competition. We sold four and six tooth forward wethers at up to IGs 6d; four and six tooth store wethers 12s 5d to 14s 8d; small woolly wether hoggets. £6 10s to £7 3s; sound mouth ewes in lamb. 12s 9d; sound mouth ewes in lamb to Romney rams, 9s 3d.

Fat cattle: A large yarding, competition was keen and prices again advanced. Prime quality ox sold at equal to 25s to 26s per 1001 b. Young cow and heifer also sold at equal to 25s per tOOIb. We sold on account ol Mr E. W. R. Leslie an extra good young cow which made £10; light Polled Angus heifers, £7; light fal steers, £8 7s 6d; ordinary prime cows, £5 to £fi ss; inferior quality fat cows up to £4 7s fid; others. £2 10s to £3 12s fid; vealers, 29s to 40s. Store cattle: A moderate yarding which sold at late rates. Empty two year heifers, 35s to 455; inferior, 30s; year Ling Jersey heifers, good, £3 9s,

inferior, 25s to 32s 6d; store cows, 30s to 42s 6d; boners. 15s to 255.

Pigs: A medium yarding of fat pigs came forward, whilst stores were yarded in large numbers. There was a poor demand for porkers and baconers, whilst stores sold under keen competition. We quote prime baconers, £2 17s to £3 2s; porkers, £1 16s to £2 12s; choppers, £1 17s to £3; large stores, 27s 6d to £1 14s; slips, 18s to £1 4s; weaners, 14s to £1 Is; sows in pigs, up to £6. G. W. Vercoe and Company. Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Company, Ltd., report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton yesterday, when a large yarding of ox and cow beef came forward. Competition throughout was keen and prices were equal to those of last week. On account of Mr J. .V. Gower, of Gordonton, a draft of 10 prime fat Hereford bullocks averaged £ll 6s, the top price (£l2 15s) being paid by Mr W. R. Shattock, of Hamilton, for two particularly prime fat bullocks.
