TROUBLE AT MINES
THE RENOWN COLLIERIES. MEN STILL IDLE. In connection with the dispute at the Renown Collieries, Rotowaro, the men held a meeting yesterday to discuss the situation, but no advice of the result of that meeting’ has been received at the company’s office, Auckland. Meantime the collieries are indefinitely Idle The management will refuse to discuss the position with the men until work is resumed. MEETING AT STOCKTON. WESTPORT, Tuesday. A decision was readied to-day to resume work at the idle mines, but the Stockton miners later gave nolice of their intention to hold a meeting to-morrow, so tiiat the mine will slill be idle pending tlie decision of Hie meeting. THE TRIBUTE SYSTEM. WORK TO BE RESUMED. WESTPORT, Tuesday. The result of a ballot taken by coalminers all over I lie West Coast to-day regarding the tribute system was that work at all mines will be resumed to-morrow.
