BUSINESS BETTER. FAIR LIST OF SALES REPORTED. ' (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. 'Business opened up better this morning, and a fair list of sales were recorded at the first call. A check to the Waihi Grand Junctions advance was confirmed with a sale at 3d cheaper, namely at 4s, after which more were available at that figure but buyers withdrew to 3s iOd.
The steady demand for Bank of New Zealands continues. A buyer went 3d higher to secure a parcel at £2 9s, after which'the holder asked £2 9s 6d.
Wellington woollens are available at par. There was a buyer for preferentlals at £4 10s, also Kempthorne Prossers at £2 11s 6d.
■Government bonds, were again In request at £99 for both 4£ per cents, and 5J per cents., but there were no offers from holders. The Noon Call. Weakness was shown in Breweries, which sold at £1 Jts Gd, 2s cheaper than last week. Only a single sale was added at the noon call. Tooths Breweries were selling at 17s, a drop of 5s on the last sale here in March.
