Owing to the indispotion of the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, his Excellency's proposed visit to Christchurch from August 9 to 13 has been cancelled.
Mr G. R. Baillie, representing General Motors, N.Z., Ltd., is in Hamilton.
Mr Norman Lindsay, the Australian author and artist, arrived at Auckland by the Aorangi, en route to New York.
Dr. W. C. Ring, the well-known W'aikato veterinary surgeon, who lias been on a visit to Sydney and Melbourne, returned to Auckland by the Niagara yesterday.
The Rev. W. W. Cash, of London, general secretary of the Church of England Missionary Society, arrived at Auckland by the Aorangt yesterday on a holiday and lecture tour.
Mr H. S. Lawrence has been appointed manager of the Christchurch branch of Dalgety and Company, Limited, in succession to the late Mr J. G. Herdman.
Mr N. C. Christie, of Hamilton, and Mr J. W. Fisher, of Cambridge, were recent, callers at New Zealand House in London.
Dr. Ronald Chamberlain, lecturer and examiner of the Trinity College of Music, London, arrived at Wellington by the Makura yesterday to conduct this year’s examinations for the college in 'the South Island.
Major C. B. Toms, of Overseas Stores, Limited, London, arrived in Wellington yesterday by the Makura from San Francisco. Major Toms’ company recently obtained a controlling interest, in Kirkcaldic and Stains, Limited, and during a brief visit to Wellington lie will attend to the reorganisation of the business.
