ARTISTIC DRESS SHOW.

SPRING MODELS PARADED. An atmosphere of spring paraded the lounge of one of Wellington’s hotels recently, when a most artistic and unusual mannequin parade and afternoon tea was held. The lounge was arranged with little tables (to accommodate over 200 people) in shades of warm orange and palest green. Iceland popples added their glowing shades to the scene and the buzz and talk of the large crowd present gave an Indication of their enthusiasm.

This was the flrst time in New Zealand that a mannequin parade has been held In a hotel, but was similar to those often held at the Cecil, in London. The spaciousness of the lounge gave scope for the mannequins to parade between the tables while the guests partook of a most delicious afternoon tea. At the end of the lounge was a black-draped dais complete with period mirror and table, and on to this each mannequin walked to display her frock. The guests present included many well-known Wellington people, who were all keenly interested in the display. Muslo was supplied by an amplified gramophone. Some Exquisite Clothes.

The frocks displayed were truly exquisite. Models by Chanel, Jean Patou, Mirande, Germaine le Comte, Martial Armande, Bruyere, Goupy, Polret, Molyneux, and Jenny were shown in sport suits, afternoon frocks, coats, dinner frocks and ball frocks.
