COMING.DOG SHOW.
HAMILTON KENNEL CLUB. RECORD ENTRIES TO HAND. Entries for the Hamilton Kennel Club’s eleventh annual show on August 6 and 7 closed at midday to-day and a record number of dogs will evidently he benched. The entries Include almost every breed, from Alsatian and collies to diminutive Pomeranians and Pekingese. Gun dogs of all breeds are strongly represented.
“There are at the moment thousands of business men who have given up trying,’’ said Mr W. Calder Alackay in an address to the Canterbury Advertising Club. “They are saying ‘What’s the use?’ There arc possible customers on all sides of them; there rae plenty of people who could be persuaded to buy their goods. Huf they have made several failures, and lost their nerve; they are sitting down listening to their arteries hardening. They don't advertise, they have no sales campaign, and no action thev have given up trying. On the other‘hand, a friend, speaking of a very able business man, said to me: •He' lias a self-starter, and a selfstopper. He dares to start things, and he dares to stop them if they don’t pay.’"
