SHOP IN HAMILTON.

FREE GIFTS NEXT TUESDAY. LAST TUESDAY'S WINNERS. Competition proved keen last Tuesday afternoon, when a number of Hamilton business firms displayed free gifts in their windows.

One lady who was fortunate to secure a prize remarked that she missed two other gifts by a margin in each case of two minutes. Another lady who had occasion to enter a shop to purchase an article went outside to take a glance at the windows. One of the first things that caught her eye was the important little ticket announcing that the article on which it was placed would be presented free to the first person over IS years <.f age to claim It. As no one had then claimed it she was presented with an order which entitled her to claim the gift from the Times office. Some excellent and useful articles were given away and the names of the persons to first discover the gifts were—

Mrs Ivy, 10 Liverpool Street, Hamilton, claimed 12.10 p.m. Miss S. Watkinson, Ruakura Farm, claimed 12.10 p.m. Mr Duncan, Fow Street, Hamilton, claimed 12.10 p.m. Mrs H. Bateman, 61 Queen's Avenue, Frankton, claimed 12.15 p.m. Mrs A. Gawn, 1 Goldsmith Street, Frankton, claimed 12.15 p.m. Miss Kirkman, Grey Street, Hamilton East, claimed 1.0 p.m. Mrs T. A. Russell, Pukeroro, claimed 1.23 p.m.

Mr G. Mathers, c/o P. Kelly, Clarkin's Road, claimed 1.30 p.m. Mrs D. A. Sellar, 7 George Street, Claudelands, claimed 1.55 p.m.

Mrs Roy Kemp, Puketaha, claimed 2.30 p.m. Mrs F. Wilson, Forest Lake Road, claimed 3.45 p.m. All the above discovered the gifts at the stated hours on Tuesday afternoon. It was not, however, until 8.50 a.m. on Thursday that Miss C. E. Turner, of Dinsdaie Road, Frankton Junction, discovered an article which for nearly two days had been awaiting a claimant, notwithstanding the fact that it was conspicuously placed in a window, clearly ticketed “Frco to the first person over 18 years of age to claim it."

One other gift still remains unclaimed. Tho ticket will remain on this gift until such time as it is claimed.

A further 12 gifts will be given away next Tuesday afternoon. We refer our readers to page 11, where a plan of the Hamilton business area is published. On this plan will be found the names of a number of Hamilton business firms. Twelve of these firms will give away gifts on Tuesday next, and in order to discover the 12 donors it Is necessary to carefully study the windows of every firm whose name appears on the plan.
