ANOTHER DRAWN GAME

NEW ZEALAND CRICKETERS

THE YORKSHIRE MATCH-

VISITORS AGAIN DECLARE

COUNTY SCORE 189 AND 192 FOR 4

United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright,

(Received July 11, 10.30 a.m.) HARROGATE, July 10

The cricket match between New Zealand and Yorkshire resulted in a drawn game. New Zealand batted first and declared with 303 runs for the loss of eight wickets, and Yorkshire had lost nine wickets for 169 runs when stumps were drawn yesterday. Continuing their innings in fine weather this morning, Yorkshire compiled 189 before the last wicket fell. The visitors, in their second venture, declared at 123 for 8 wickets, and the County, in their second knock, had compiled 192 for the loss of four wickets, when stumps were drawn. When play was resumed to-day the last Yorkshire wicket yielded 20. Wood was dropped by Dempster off Merritt —the second hall of the day but eventually the batsman was caught in lhe slips. New Zealand’s second innings opened badly, three wickets being down for 65 at the 'luncheon interval. The New Zealand batsmen attempted to force the pace in an effort to secure a definite result Blunt hatted brilliantly for two hours. He showed steady defence and did not miss a single scoring opportunity. His \square cutting was outstanding. - Vivian and Talbot batted briskly. The latter hit two sixes. One was a straight drive out of the ground off a ball from Verity. Veritv was using the drying wicket admirably. He was spinning appreciably and making considerable pace off the pitch. Lowry declared at three o’clock leaving Yorkshire under three hours to score 238 runs. Merritt and Matheson howled well before tea although the wicket was becoming easy. Weir howled Holmes with a late inswinger. Oldroyd and Mitchell were dismissed by catches in the slips. After tea a fine free partnership between Leyland and Barber endea New Zealand’s hopes of victory. Leyland was well stumped during the flnai over of the day. Details of the score are:— NEW ZEALAND.
