JOHNNY & JOAN
EVERYONE, Johnny, Joan and Bone had gone off to the ball all dressed up In their fancy costumes, and left poor littlo Biddy at home, because they said she was only a little bird and not big enough to “ dress up.” Well, Biddy sat and pondered a while, and then thought of an Idea how she also could go to the Ball In fancy costume. First sho took an old umbrella from the hall-stand, and then a foather duster from the kitchen. After she had borrowed Eon’s stilts, a tea cloth and a pair of old boots hor “ costume ” was complete. Johnny, Joan and Bone were on the road whon they heard a strango noise and a pattering of feet behind them. Looking round they saw the queerest croaturo. Johnny thought It was an ostrich of some kind. Bone was so afraid—ho ran—as usual. Suddenly a voice 3ald ‘‘Hullo, folks ! I'm going to the ball as Mother Goose’s Goose.” “Why, It's Biddy,” criod Joan, for of course Biddy It was. I’m sure our poor little bird's “ costumo ” looked moro like an ostrich than a goose, but nevertheless I think she was very clever to think of it—don’t you? PETER PAN,
