SEVERE COLD SNAP.
WEEK-END TEMPERATURES. 11.8 DEGREES THIS MORNING. Hamilton experienced a severe cold snap over the week-end, and again this morning the countryside was coated with a heavy mantle of frost. As on Saturday morning, milk was frozen in many Instances, and pools of stangant water at the side of the roads were coated with Ice. Water pipes in a number of instances burst with the severity of the temperature and the slippery nature of tho roads constituted a risk to cyclists, vehicular traffic and pedestrians. The following were the ground temperatures recorded at the Ruakura farm over the past three mornings: Saturday .. 12.4 degrees. Sunday ... 7.2 degrees. .Monday .. 11.8 degrees.
