The English County championships competition was continued during tht week with the following results: Warwick v. Surrey. —Warwick, first innings 139 (Cover took 0 wickets for 72; second 202 (Wyatt 100. Fender took 0 wickets for 51). Surrey, first innings 503 for 4 wickets dodared (Hobbs 147, Ducat 125, Shepherd 140). Surrey won by an innings and 112 runs. Gloucester v. Yorkshire. —Gloucester, first innings, 4 for no wickets (declared); second, 171 (Verity took seven wickets for 04). Yorkshire, first innings, 4 for no wickets (declared). Second innings 124 (Goddard took 5 wickets for 21 runs). •Gloucester won by 47 runsFreak declarations, consequent on the new county scoring, reached their limit in this match, which had been held up for two days owing to rain. Gloucester, in endeavouring to force a conclusion, declared after the first .ball had been allowed to go fo; four byes. Yorkshire similarly declared at 4 for no wickets. Thus there were four innings in one day. Hampshire v. Nottingham.—Hampshire: First innings, 220 (Arnold 85); second'innings, 68 (Larwood took G wickets for 20). Nottingham: First Innings, 279 for nine wickets, declared (Walker 79); second innings, 10 for no wickets. Nottingham won by ten wickets. Kent v. Worcester. —Kent: First innings, 7G (Jackson took 6 wickets for 25); second, 110 (Perks took 6 wickets for 40). Worcester: First Innings, 112 (Freeman 7 wickets for 44); second innings, 7G for five wickets. Worcester won by five wickets. Sussex v. Leloestor. —Sussex: First innings, 397 for nine wickets, declared (Duleepsinghi 112); second Innings, 75 for two wickets.. Leicester: First innings 280 (Astill 115, Langridgc took six wickets for 34). Sussex won on the first innings. Somerset v. Middlesex. —Somerset: First innings, 114; second inni:#S, 193 (Peebles Look G wickets for G2). •Middlesex: First innings, 246; second, G2 for two wickets. Middlesex won by eight wickets. Lancashire v. Oxford, —Lancashire: •First innings, 195 (Green 80); second innings, 92 (Wellings took 5 wickets for 3G.) Oxford; First in- : riinigs 171; second, 117 for three , wickets.
