OLD BOYS v. PIRATES. WIN FOR THE FORMER. The Old Boys’ hockey team defeated the Pirates’ team on Steele park on Saturday by 6 goals to 2. Old Boys had the territorial advantage most of the time, though Pirates often broke away .In dangerous attacks. The winners’ defence was, however, particularly sound, and they staved off most of the attacks. Powdrill and Vowless were the outstanding players for Pirates, securing both goals alter several good solo efforts. Storry and N'. Ross were the pick of Old Boys’ forwards, and Harefleld was [he most prominent on the half line, although C. Ross and G. Brough worked hard. Pountnev, Ewan and West formed a sound defence. WAIPA DEFEATS RODNEY. Waipa played Rodney at Te Awamutu on Saturday afternoon, Waipa winning by. 5 goals to 2. After the match the visitors were entertained to dinner by the Waipa Association. For Waipa the best games were played by T. Finch, L. Spiers, G. Jack and G. Wood, and for Rodney R. Heywood, R. Smith, C. Carron and A. Langridge.
