A QUERY FOR MR SEYMOUR.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I would like to ask Mr D Seymour, who is so earnest an advocate of free trade, what attitude he would take up should Bolshevic butter be landed in Hamilton and sold at, say, Gd per lb? Highly improbable, of course, but not impossible, 1 perhaps, in thirty years’ time, as tho Russaans appear to have more energy than we once credited them with. They have the population to develop their vast resources, and evidently the intention of doing so to the utmost. We read recently that they are marketing razor blades at seven for a penny. They may later produce 70 at the same price. If their butter were dumped in Hamilton at 6d per lb. would not Mr Seymour think our farming community was entitled to some protection from them?—l am, etc., NOSEY, j Hamilton, June 6, 1931.
