In (the Arbitration Court to-day Peter Thompson, coalminer, sued the Brunner Collieries in respect of an eye injury in Julv, 1930. He was awarded £283 In addition to £4l previously paid to him in weekly amounts as compensation. Judgment was entered by consent tor £560 in addition to weekly compensation totalling £129 in the case of Harold Jones versus Davies Brothers. The widow of David Greaney, blacksmith, formerly employed at the State mine, Rewanul, sought judgment for £IOOO alleging that her husband had died from blood-poisoning induced by a sprained ankle, suffered when he ■was loading a hoist from the mine in October, 1930. Mr Justice Frazer intimated that the case was so extraordinary that x the Court would refer the evidence 'm, to a medical referee and would give Judgment later.
