SOCIAL NOTES.
Miss Mina Hammonds, of Tlrau, is ipending a fortnight’s holiday at Auckland and Christchurch.
The monthly meeting of the National Council of Women was held on .Tuesday evening. A vote of sympathy with the family of the late Mrs Valder, was passed, Mrs H. Holloway, ithe aoting-presldent, speaking in feeling terms of the loss the council had sustained and the Inspiration that Mrs Valder had always been to those who worked with her in the many public activities in which she took part. The meeting then adjourned as a mark of xespeot to her memory. ENGAGEMENT. Hn engagement is announced between Elsie May, second daughter of Mr and Mrs A. F. Jones, Fitzherbert Avdnue, Palmerston North, and Claude F. Parr, of Pirongia, second son of Mr .Robert Parr, of Hamilton.
