OTAKI MEETING. SECOND DAY’S RESULTS. TROJAN-MELODY SCORES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) OTAKI, Thursday. The winter meeting of the Otaki Maori Racing Club was concluded today in dull weather before a fair attendance. The course was on the soft side. Following are the concluding results:— TAIPUA HANDICAP, Of £150; 6 fur. 2 RIDGEMOUNT, 8.10 1 3 GREEN LINNET, 7.7 2 5 ROYAL FINANCE, 8.3 3 Also started: 4 Portray, 8.10; 1 Sight Draft, 8.2; 6 Coon Song, 7.7; 7 Juggle, 7.4. The held went off to a beautiful start. Ridgemount immediately went to the front and led all the way. Green Linnet, Royal Finance and Sight Draft finished strongly. Won by half a length with a length between second and third. Time, 1.19 4-5. OHAU HACK HANDICAP. Of £100; 7 fur. 1 NIGHTMARE, 9.4 1 6 KING HAL, 8.0 2 7 ADVENTUS, 8.5 3 Also started: 2 Chief Savage, 8.6; 3 Arrowzone, 8.5; 5 Joie de Val, 8.2; 4 Martian Chief, 8.1. Won by three lengths with a length between second and third. Time, 1.35 2-5. The Dunedin Jockey Club’s Winter meeting was continued to-day in cold and overcast weather before a fair attendance. The course was on the slow side after early morning rain. Following are the concluding results : WINGATUI STEEPLECHASE. Of £150; 2i miles. 2 RADIAC, 10.8 1 3 SQUATTER, IT.O 2 5 KAPUNA, 10.10 , 3 Also started: 7 Tuld, 11.0; 6 Fabriano, 11.0; 1 Snowfall, 10.12; 4 Valves, 9.6. Radiac led practically throughout and won by three lengths, five lengths between second and third. Snowfall was fourth. Time, 5.15 4-5. JANEFIELD HANDICAP, Of £80; 6 fur. 1 CONSONO, 8.5 1 2 WATER POWER, 8.8 2 4 SAILING HOME, 9.0 3 Also started: 7 Leading Boy, 8.12; 3 (Miss Redowa, 8.8; 2 Traction, 7.13 '(bracketed with Water Power); 6 Tippling, 8.4; 8 Silver Salver, 5 Spanish Maid, 7.13. Water Power and Miss Redowa led Consono into the straight. In the run home, Consono won by half a length, with Sailing Home two lengths away. Tippling was- fourth. Time, 1.18 2-5. Punchestown and Rascal turned for home together, the former winning under pressure by three-quarters of a length. Shortly was three-quarters of a length behind Rascal. First Raid was fourth. Time, 1.46 3-5. The Totallsator. The totalisator handled £8839 for the day, compared with £14,955 for the corresponding da,y last year, a decrease of £6116.
