The herd has been particularly heavily culled each year, and no expense has been spared in bringing this herd up to a very high standard. All the cows have been tested and individual tests will be given at sale. The “Sunnycroft” Stud of Pedigree Berkshire Pigs needs no comment from us, as its record of show ring winnings throughout the North Island Is outstanding. V. Mortensen, KAHUWERA, PIO PIO. To be held on the Farm: PIO PIO. TUESDAY, JUNE 9, 1931. The offering comprises:— 46 HEAD--1 O RISING 2-YR-OLD HEIFERS, mostly from tested dams, including a daughter of Kahuwera Pansy, V.H.C., C.O.R. 5891 b fat. T O COWS from some of N.Z.’s best strains. -\A BULLS, 11 Yearlings, 1 2-year--1 old, 2 aged. The Kahuwera herd Is largely dominated by'the blood of those successful sires, Brighton Twylish, Golden Swan, Meadowvale General Daisy, Grannie’s Knight and Masterful.. All the 2-year-old heifers are in calf to Almadale Squire, a son of Almadale Golden Ruler, from a daughter of Golden Fern’s Volunteer (imp.). All hut one of the entry have been bred on the place. The females are well developed, in excellent condition, and particularly well bred. Mr Mortensen bred Kahuwera 80-Peep and Kahuwera Topsv, in their year head of the two-year-old class with 512 and 508 lb. fat. 80-Peep later on did 080 lb. fat at 4 years. Mr Mortensen submitted fifteen animals under the Jersey type Classification Scheme, and scored with every one; I V.H.G., 6 11.C.* and 8 C., which proves that he has been breeding along correct lines. The herd is clean in every way.
