ROADS IN THE DISTRICT,
REPORT BY BOARD MEMBER. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. A report was presented by Mr M. 11. Wynyard yesterday following upon the last meeting of the Main High- , ways Board. It stated, inter alia, that the bituminous surfacing of the Great South Road was proceeding satisfactorily in the Waikato County. Sealing had been carried out on the Pokeno-Waihi highway in Hauraki fig Plains County and further similar ■- work authorised between Ngatea and the Waihou River. On the Cambridge-Rotorua main highway the relief work through the gorge was practically completed, and had resulted in great improvements in grade and alignment on what was at one time a dangerous section of road. S Intimation was received that the engineer of-the Waipa County Council expected to have the survey of the Great South Road between Ngaruawahia and Te Awamutu completed by the end of July.
