TE AWAMUTU CLUB. A PLEASANT EVENING. The popularity of the Te Awamuiu Orphans’ Club socials was exemplified on Saturday evening, when over eighty members attended the second of the 1931 scries. The patron, Bro. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., presided. After the National Anthem, and the club’s opening ode, the orchestra, under the baton of Bro. E. J. Moeller, presented a delightful overture, and tills was followed by a well-rendered march. Bro. Price then sang "Drake Goes West" and "Sleep and Forget,” and the company indulged in ten minutes of community singing. Bro. R. Noonan gave a recitation followed by the song "Moriarity." Saxophone trios by Bros. A. Patterson, J. Papescti and A. Hastedt, were much enjoyed. After supper the chairman occupied a few minutes with a racy description of what he called sidelights on Parliamentary procedure. The orchestra was again heard in a couple of selections, and then the choir of 16 voices under Bro. J. T. North, sang "0 Peaceful Night" and “the Gosling." Bro. Reese contributed samples of American humour, and Bro. R- U. Andrew sang "When the Ebb-title Flows” and "In the Heart of a Rose.” The president, Bro. A. .1. Sinclair, announced that an inter-club visit will he paid to Morrinsville this evening.
