Officially explaining that the eighth hour is only for “compulsory practice,” the Soviet authorities have reintroduced the eight-hour day. The officials attribute the alterations to the demands of the workers themselves, who they allege are clamouring for permission to work the extra hour. The Commissariat of Labour has abolished propaganda meetings among working iiours, which must in future he devoted exclusively to working.
