19 MURDERS ALLEGED.
ELDERLY WOMAN CHARGED. OPERATING FOR 25 YEARS. SECURED INSURANCE BENEFITS. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. CHICAGO, May 31. The police authorities, after following a trail of death extending back 25 years in investigating the strange case of Mrs Margaret Summers, a grey-haired hoarding house keeper of apparently a most pleasant and harmless type, have accused her of a series of murders by poisoning of persons who died leaving her their insurance benefits. She 'has tearfully asserted that she had never killed anyone. A coroner reported on his inquiry into the deaths of 10 men, Including five of Mrs Summers’ husbands, and she has now been formally charged with poisoning her last 'husband, her nephew and three of her hoarders.
■ The total number of deaths Mrs Summers is suspected of having caused is 19.
