THOMAS WINS ON POINTS. LECKIE’S POOR DISPLAY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Monday. The boxing contest this evening between Johnny Leckie, 9.3, and Thomas (America), 9.2, drew a crowd of well over 3000 people. The fight was of the most disappointing nature, hardly one effective blow being delivered by either man. At the tenth round the referee, Mr Kilmartin, announced that Leckie could not continue as he had cramp. At this stage Thomas was leading on points by a fair margin. The referee’s announcement xvas followed by a demonstration, Leckie being subjected to hooting.
