The subscriptions to the Irish hospitals sweepstake on the Derby total £2,789,696, of which £1,900,544 will be used as prize money. There are 19 first prizes of £30,000, 19 second prizes of £15,000 and 19 third prizes of £IO,OOO. The procedure in the 'draw was as follows: —A horse’s name was drawn and then 19 tickets were allotted to It. Then a second horse was drawn and 19 tickets allotted to it, and so on. The draw was completed with 1700 ticket-holders from all over the world. The Wanganui Herald syndicate has drawn Lightning Star. Drawers of horses in the sweep will receive at least £833. Londoners who secured horses numbered 123, Americans 55, South Africans 24 and Canadians 15. A message from Calcutta says the draw for the Calcutta Turf Club's sweepstake took place at 9.30 p.m. today, Calcutta time. The total subscription amounts to nearly £600,000. Tho first prize is £105,000, the second prize £50,000, and the third prizo £25,000. The total prize money is £548,000. The Calcutta Bank Syndicate drew 14 horses. LUCKY WANGANUI INVESTORS.
