TE PUNINGA NEWS.

ANNUAL BALL. In every way the second annual Te Puninga district ball was a great success. The hall was filled with dancers from all parts of the district, and the £l9 taken at the door was a record for the district. The funds of the hall will benefit to the extent of about £lO. The hall was artistically decorated with streamers and greenery. Many of the dancers were in fancy dress, and the colourful and original costumes added to the gaiety of the scene. Those in fancy dress were as follow: Mrs Cooper (Rainbow), Misses E. Dakers (Japanese), G. Meek (Duchess of Devonshire). B. Gibb (Hawaiian), B. Lawrence (Drummer Boy), G. Lawrence (Drummer'Girl), V. Smith (Early Victorian), D. Bright (Silhouette), ■ E. Arndt (Pierette), D. Arndt (Pierrot), M..» Darrall (Carnival), M. Hillary (Puritan Maid), W. Meek (Negress), I. Meek (Gipsy), j Messrs J. Paul (Holstein Cow), Williams (Pirate), T. .Powell (Spaniard), | D. Harrison (Highwayman), C. HarI rison (.Mrs Grundy), C. McLeod (MisI sionary), C. Darrall (Mrs Ainsjey), T. Schofield (Big Game Hunter)-. The winners of competitions were as follows: Ladies’ Paper Hat, Miss Manning; men’s paper hat, Mr X. Spice; confetti dance, Miss S. Brown and Mr V. J. Inncs; spot waltz, Miss D. Dakers and Mr. P. Neilson; Monta Carlo, Miss Bright and Mr Hogan.
