Varnished wallpaper can be removed by the following method—Take up all floor coverings and cover the floor with paper. Mix a thin paste of cement and apply to the wall with an old brush. Allow this to soak in for about 10 minutes, repeat, and then the paper will strip off easily with a scraper.
