OTOROHANGA. ITEMS OF INTEREST. (■Our Resident Representative). Frosty Weather. Several severe frosts have been experienced during the week.. Assestment Court. The Assestment Court sat on Monday £o consider objections to the recently compiled new valuations within the Town Board area.—Reductions were made in several instances. Lands for Settlement. The Minister of Lands has advised the member for Waitomo, Mr W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., that the Mangatutu Block of 1944 acres, near Otorohanga, has been selected by the Lands 'Development Board for closer settlement. , The board will have a considerable area ploughed and grassed on each of the six sections that will be subdivided at an early date. The land is a light loam, on clay, and is ' mostly easily ploughable country, suitable for mixed farming.
Rugby Football. and Otewa seniors put up a fine bout under the direction of Mr Peter Barton, the latter pack eventually securing a victory by 9 to 8. The High School and Otewa juniors contested under referee Mr George Cassey, the school lads winning by 17 to 8. Honikiwi and Kio Kio juniors played a rather onesided game, the former winning by 17 to nil.
