MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. Mr J. E. Lowe presided at the weekly meeting of the Walpa Rugby Union management committee. The secretary reported correspondence from the Otorohanga Union acknowledging the Walpa notification that certain players In Walpa territory who had played for Otorohanga had been suspended until such time as they prove their bona fldes and replying that Otorohanga Union had decided to notify the players named that suspension by Walpa does not prevent them playing for Kio Kio Club in the Otorohanga Union’s competitions unUl the whole question of boundaries has been threshed out by the Waikato and King Country Unions. Mr Haselden reported that he had brought the matter up at last week’s meeting of the Waikato Union, when Walpa’s' action In suspending these players was confirmed.' King Country Union is to be notified of this , decision, and falling satisfaction from the latter body the Waikato Union will take the matter up with the New Zealand Union. It was decided to Investigate the residential qualification of one of the players’ names, to make doubly sure. The regrading of W. Owens from senior to junior grade was approved. It was decided to make application to the Domain Board for permission to make Saturday next a charge day, as the Union’s finances are much in need of revenue. TAUPIRI SUB-UNION, . TAUPIRI UNITED v. EASTERN, Eastern kicked off, but the ball was brought back to the centre, where from the scrum Hanna and Monteith headed a fine forward rush to the United line. Offside play gave Miller, a chance, to send hack to the half-way, where Miller again sent the play, by a nice kick, to the Eastern twenty-five, and following up fast secured, and sent. In to Davis, who went over; Miller.missed the kick at goal. —:United 3, Eastern 0. . ..

From the kick out Mulligan’s good play took the play to the Eastern quarter, Morris saving by clever play. From a scrum .D. Smith received and after a forcing run transferred to N. -Pine, who just -failed to score. Eastern forwards continued to attack strongly, D. Smith- secured and found his way over to score, Taylor -adding the major points.—Eastern 5, United 3. Play continued to he very fast. McLeod secured and after a great run ■handed to Hutcheson to score a nice try. Miller missed the kick at goal.— United 6, Eastern 5. In the second spell good play by Bishop, Lltt and White had the Eastern’s hard on defence, R. Taylor relieving with a nice line kick. The Eastern forwards were playing a great game at this stage, and some very exciting play took place on the United line. Miller was caught In possession and play hovered round the twenty-five, where J. Smith landed a great field goal.—Eastern 9, United 6. United forced the pace, good tackling keplng them out. Good play by N. Pene -and a fine run by Cook, sent the game back to the United quarter, where," from a penalty, Taylor easily converted.—Eastern 12, United 6. United returned to the attack, and weak play by the Eastern backs allowed J. White to score. -Miller converted but the goal was not allowed, the game ending—Eastern 12, United 9. •Mr Vollemere was referee. Notes on the Game. For the winners Carter, at fullback, was not Impressive. H. Pene and Cook, the wings, played great games, the attacking being of a very high order, especially that of the latter.

Taylor, at centre had few opportunities. It is a pity this player is not In the pack, where he is so brillant; N. Pene, at flve-eghths, stands up to it in good style. His tackling is sound, but there is room for improvement in his passing. A. Smith', although somewhat crippled, played well and made few mistakes. D. Smith, at half-back, was solid, and was In the thick of it throughout. J. Smith, as rover, gave a good display and his potted goal was a good effort. The forwards are a good lot, the most prornihent being perhaps Mulligan, Monteith and Hanna. For the losers Morris, at full-back, was safe and reliable. Ray Miller, at centre, was in good form, his taking and kicking saving his side repeatedly. N. McLeod retains his form. He was everywhere and played a solid game. G. Frear had few chances, but made no mistakes. Mathers plays well, and shows great promise. N. Davis, at half-back, got through a good hard day’s work in good style. Of the forwards Bishop, White and Litt were the pick of a hard-working set. GLEN MASSEY v. TE HOE. The match between Glen Massey and Te Hoe, played on the former’s ground, developed into a hard struggle between the opposing forwards. The backs of either side seldom got going and when they did the movements were short-lived owing to quick, hard tackling or faulty handling. In spite of this the game was fast and interesting, the result being in doubt till the last minute. At times the play was unnecessarily hard and some players should have been warned early in the game. The Te Hoe forwards were better in the set scrums than Glen Massey, but the latter were better In the loose, and made much ground by fast following and breaking through. Neither of the full-backs was impressive, both repeatedly mishandling and both being often caught in possession. The backs so seldom got going that it is difficult to single any out. F. Connew, for Glen Massey, played well, and two tries would have resulted from his breaking away had lie been supported. J. Fowler and J. Brown, on the wings, tackled well, but- were starved most of the game, seldom seeing the ball. S. Brown is a much improved forward. 'For Te Hoe Bradley scored with a free kick. For Glen' Massey G. McIntyre scored with a free kick, and Robinson scored a try. The game ended, Glen Massey G, Te Hoe 3. Mr C. P. Furber was referee.
