Mr C. H. Cllnkard, M.P., has agreed to contest the Mayoral election at Rotorua.

Lieutenant-Colonel Bartley Bull, a prominent Jersey stock breeder of Brampton, Ontario, arrived at Auckland by the Niagara yesterday on a visit to the Dominion. Mr E. C. Fletcher,-manager of the Greymouth branch of the National Bank of New Zealand Ltd., will be retiring on superannuation at the end of June. The Right Rev, F. A, Bennett, Bishop of Aotearoa, is touring the Far North, visiting the Maori people at all centres. He will be In Whangarei on Anzac Day, and will deliver the address at the memorial service. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr P. R. Stewart was passed at a meeting of the executive committee of the Waikato Winter Show Association this morning. Mr Frank Hyde; postmaster at Huntly, who has been transferred to Paeroa on promotion, received a presentation of a bowling bag from his fellow bowling club members at Huntly. Mrs Hyde was presented with a silver hot-water jug. Rear-Admiral E. D. Sydenham, who was well known in New Zealand before the war, was a passenger by the Makura which arrived at Wellington yesterday from Sydney. He intends spending three or four months in New. Zealand.

At a gathering in Christchurch Mr c. McLeod (formerly of Hamilton) was welcomed as manager of ihe Chi'islrlmreh branch of Ihc Union Rank. Mr C. P. Agar, on behalf of clients, congratulated Mr McLeod on his promotion. Mr McLeod said he was proud lo take Ihe position. Being asked to lake charge of an Important branch in succession lo Mr A. 11. Glasgow. Ihe retiring manager, was a greal honour. He was really a South islander, and he was glad to get back.
