“MURDER PARTY.”

SYDNEY’S LATEST. If a hostess wants to send her guests away from a party vowing that they had never had such a time, let her suggest the famous “ murder game.’’ It is Sydney's latest thrill. So absorbed did one lot of young things become the other night that at 2 a.m. they were still playing. Then they found they were too excited to sleep, so fed on bacon and eggs and went for a surf I (writes the Sydney Sun). The game goes thus:—Cards are dealt round and the holder of the ace of spades becomes “ the murderer " —unknown, of course, to anybody else. Lights are extinguished for ten minutes and t'he party scatters about the house. During that ten minutes “ the murderer ” has to clutch somebody round the neck and that " somebody ” has to give out a mighty scream. Lights are put on and the party, minus the victim, or “ body,” troops back to the room. The objective then is to And 11 the murderer.” A “ detective,” appointed beforehand, preferably a solicitor or barrister, questions each person minutely. All but “ the murderer ” are honour bound to tell the truth. “ The murderer ” may tell as many lies as he or she likes. Sometimes it takes as long „s two hours to fasten the guilt on the right person. But in the meantime the excitement is terrific.
