CIVIL ENGINEERS.
VISIT TO HAMILTON. WATER WORKS INSPECTED. Delegates attending the annual conference of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers, which has been sitting at Auckland, paid a visit to the new water construction works at Hamilton this afternoon. They were shown over the scheme by Mr R. Worley, borough engineer, who has designed the works, and under whose supervision they are being constructed.
As the high level reservoir, which will have a capacity of over 2,000,000 gallons, is an entirely new engineering departure for New ZeZaland, the visitors exhibited the greatest interest in it, and were impressed with its apparent soundness and safety. The feature to which (hey paid particular attention was the electrical welding of the reinforement, which consists wholly of flat bars.
