J)EAR EVERYONE,— Johnny, Joan and their two pets were haymaking and I am sorry to say Bone had broke his hayrake. Just when they were mending it an elf ran up with the alarming news that old Mother Chuck’s cottage was on fire and Old Mother Chuck herself was screaming from her attic window. Of course, the children dashed off to see if they could rescue the old lady, and Biddy and Bone were just going to follow when something very, very strange happened. The old rake started to talk. .“Take me with you! I will save Mother Chuck,” it pleaded. Of course Bone took the old rake and do you know, it changed itself into quite a good ladder. Bono reared it up to Mother Chuck’s attic window and the old lady climbed down quite easily. “ Come along, Mother Chuck, you are quite safe now,” said Bone, as the old dame reached the bottom of the rake. ! really think that the rake was a fairy in disguise, don’t you?—» PETER PAN.
