dominion cricketers. THE COMING ENGLISH . TOUR. NEW RULES ACCEPTED. (Bv Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The New Zealand Cricket Council has agreed to the use of the new cricket rules in matches played by the New Zealand team in England this year. This means that if a batsman snicks the ball on to his pads an appeal for leg-before-wicket is just as likely to succeed as in the case of a ball which has not been touched by the bat. The larger wickets are also to be used and the council has given- consent to the pitch being rolled for seven minutes, instead of ten, as has been the case previously. With regard to the financial side of the tour, it Is reported that the Maryiebone Cricket Club has made a donation of £l5O toward the cost of sending the team to England.

Hay, of Hamilton (who was manager of the New Zealand cricket team ,to Englanc a few seasons ago) has received fron a member of the staff of John Wisdei and Co., Ltd., London, the write) makes reference to the Australia) team, recently in England, whom hi describes as -a nice lot of chaps, besides being a first rate team. Oi course Bradman stood out very prominently, so too did Grimmett. ‘‘l saw a lot of Don Bradman, apart from the cricket side and w< struck up a personal friendship. . . He Was one of the nicest unassuming fellows I have ever met. Then was naturally a certain amount oi jealousy for the papers were al Bradman, and even Grimmett s won derful figures were almost overlooked No doubt he went back richer tha> he came 'but this was not all his seeking and the figures wer.e much exaggerated ”
