SOUTHAMPTON DOCKS.
big extension scheme. £3,000,000 TO BE SPENT. (Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Jan. 15. The Home Development Committee has approved an estimate of £3,000,000 to be expended by the Southern Railway Company on the extension of its existing docks at Southampton. The details have not been disclosed of the expenditure on the proposed new drydock at Southampton for the accommodation of the giant Cunard liners now being built, but it is understood that the cost will be in the neighbourhood of £2,000,000. This dock is expected to be ready at the end of 1933, when the first of the two ships is due to be fitted out for tha Atlantic service.
