While shooting rabbits from a car last night Mr William James Taylor, licensee of the Tuakau Hotel, and chairman of the Town Board, was inserting a cartridge in the breach of a gun when the pin struck the cap and exploded, blowing off Mr Taylor’s thumb and part of the index finger. He was admitted to the hospital at Auckland.
