TRANSPORT THROUGH THE AGES. —The Liverpool an 1 Manchester Railway centenary celebrations were officially inaugurated at Liverpool by General Dawes, American Ambassador, on September 13. The chief feature of the celebrations was the “Pageant of Transport.” Here is an amusing scene during the pageant. An elephant decides to rest on the line, and proves too big an obstacle for the old engine “ Northumbrian.”
