WELLINGTON MOTORISTS.
INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP. GREAT PROGRESS MADE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The chairman of the Wellington Automobile Club, Mr A. E. Batt, said at the annual meeting last evening that the membership of the club had increased from fewer than 20 at its formation 25- years ago to nearly 5000. There are at present three service officers, and he believed one or two more should be appointed. In answer to a member Mr Batt said he considered the City Council should enforce' more firmly the by-law relating to. the adjustment of headlights.
Reference was made to the danger of cyclists riding at night without lights, and a recommendation was made that the City Council be approached to have it made necessary for twelve inches of the rear mudguard of bicycles to be painted a suitable colou^.
