LONDON MARKETS. WELLINGTON, Monday. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated November 1, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : Tallow.—Spot market quiet and steady and more offering for shipment from Australia. Belter demand at auction, 713 packages being offered and 611 sold. Most no-colour sorts are 6d dearer; other descriptions unchanged. Hemp.—Manila: Prices eased under selling- pressure early this week. “ K ” grade, November-January shipments, sold at £2l 10s, but closed steadier, and business has been done at £22. Sisal: Market dull and slightly easier at closing. Sellers, afloat, Ist grade, fair to average quality, £2l; OctoberDecember shipment, £2l ss. Javanese: Pressed for sale, about as low as £2l 10s, any position. Mexican: Unchanged and no small sales reported. New Zealand: Market quiet. Nominal value unchanged and no first-hand sales reported. Eggs.—Market firm and with supplies moderate prices have advanced. Present quotations are: —rEnglish, national mark, 24s to 31s 6d; English, ordinary pack, 23s to 29s 6d; Danish, 21s to 225; South African, 14s 6d to 18s; Australian, 14s to 17s 6d. Oats. English: Steady. Best grades Whites scarce and firmly held for 18s to 19s. Choice old crop, 20s. Imported inactive and prices lower. Plate: November shipments sold at 9s .to 10s. New crop, January shipment, offered at 10s 4§d. Chilean: Storm King, November shipments, sold at 17s 6d, nominal value. New Zealand: “ A grade Gartons, November-De-cember shipments, 17s. Peas. —Maple partridge, quiet, as season is ended. New Zealand, 1929 crop: Parcels continue to come fprw’ard but quality not good. Making 54s to 50s. Very few 1930 crop offered afloat at 62s 6d, but not selling freely; 1931 crop offered, March-April shipment, at 655. “A ” grade Tasmanian sparingly offered at 67s 6d, but buyers not very eager. .English fairly freely offered at 35s to 365. Choice old crop, 43s to 455. Blues: Colonial continue neglected. Fair business has been done in Japanese marrowfats afid Dutch hand-picked round, for which 'market remains steady, with sellers, Oclober-Decem-ber shipment, at £l4 and £ll. to £l2 respectively. Beans. —Prices too high compared with maize. English in good supply. Best winter offered at 335; choice spring, 325. Chinese horse, OctoberNovember shipment, offered at £8 per ton, but trade dull. Danish cocksfoot in poor demand and prices have declined. Present value is about 50s 6d, f-.0.b. BRADFORD TOPS MARKET. WELLINGTON, Monday. The following advice regarding the wool market is contained in a cablegram, dated November 1, received by the Department of Agriculture from the High Commissioner, London: —Bradford reports a steady inquiry for Merino and fine cross-bred tops, but. not much forward buying. Medium and low’ crossbred remain quiet; 56’s now’ quoted at Is 4d and 40's, prepared, at lljd to Is.

OHAUPO SALE. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their fortnightly sale at Ohaupo on Friday, October 31, when there vVas a full yarding of all classes of cattle. Competition on store cattle was keen. Fat cattle met with slow demand. Yearling heifers were auoted at satisfactory prices. There was a poor demand for dairy cow’s and heifers.

We quote: Fat heifers, £5 9s to £6 17s 6d; fat cows, £5 8s to £7 7s; good store Holstein cows made up to £5; Jersey Cow’s, £4 Is to £4 12s; others £2 10s to £3 10s; good quality Jersey heifers, £5 7s 6d to £5 17s; yearling Shorthorn steers, £3 15s; good quality Jersey Heifers, £7 to £8 10,s; cow’s in milk, £4 5s to £7 15s.

NGATEA SALE. . The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company report at Ngatea sale on Monday, having penned a large yarding of store and dairy cattle. Late rates were maintained throughout. Fat bullocks, light, £lO ss; forward conditioned steers, £7 10s; fat cows, heavy, £8 12s 6d to £9 ss; fat cows, medium, £7 to £7 15s; fat cows, light, £5 15s to £6 15s; forward conditioned cows,*£s 4s to £5 12s; store cows £1 10s to £4 ss; yearling heifers, £2 19s; potter bulls, £1 10s to £3 10s; service bulls, £4 to £5.

CAMBRIDGE SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: A short yarding of beef and a good yarding store and young cattle was penned at our Cambridge stock sale yesterday, when late rates were maintained. Light fat cows, £5 12s 6d to £6 12s; forward conditioned cows, £4 5s to £5 7s 6d; store cows, £2 10s to £4 ss; boner cows, £1 14s to £2 2s 6d; choice yearling Jersey ' heifers £4 16s to £6- 'ls; yearling Jersey heifers, £3 19s to £4 ss; yearling' steers, £2 to £2 10s; 18 months steers, £4 10s; yearling Jersey bulls, £4 to £6 7s 6d; 2 to 4-year bulls, £4 to £5 2s 6d; fat and forward hoggets, 15s 3d to 17s Id; 2-tooth ewes, empty 18s 9d; 2-tooth store wethers, 17s. BUTTER AND CHEESE. Leonard and Son, Limited, has received the following cablegram from its London principal, A. C. Rowson, dated October 31: Cheese: Deliveries, New Zealand and Australian, 11,984 orates; Canadian, 12,029 boxes; stock, New Zealand and Australian, 44,524 crates; Canadian, 243,511 boxes; New Zealand, white, 735; coloured, 70s; the demand is slow, and the market steady. Butter: .New Zealand, first grade, 109 s; finest, 114 s; the demand is dead, and the market weak.
