MAD DOG AT LARGE.
TWO GIRLS ATTACKED. | ONE IN SERIOUS CONDITION. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. SYDNEY, Nov. 2. Two young women were attacked by a mad Airedale dog yesterday at Paddington, a Sydney suburb. So severely bitten was Miss Myrtle Miller, "aged 16, that her life is despaired of. Apparently the .dog was affected by tiie severe heat, as hitherto it had been docile. First it attacked Miss Stephen, aged 24. It bit her in the side and on her forearms and then rushed at Miss Miller. The girl was washing dishes at the time. The animal bit her in the legs, arms and breast, and one wound required 20 stitches. Miss Miller certainly would have been killed but for the intervention of a young man, who seized the dog’s ears and twisted them violently. Even then the animal retained its tenacious grip on the girl until a constable arrived and shot it. Miss Miller was ’sent to hospital in a critical condition.
