Sir Walter Runciman, the millionaire shipowner, recently celebrated his eighty-third birthday. Sir Walter ran away to sea when he was 12 years old, and. began life as a cabin boy. He stole away from his home in the middle of the night and tramped to the nearest seaport. In spite of his great age, Sir Walter is in good health. He is never so happy as when tie is cruising in his famous yacht Sunbeam. “ Plenty of hard work,” has alwaysbeen the prescription he advises for a long and healthy life. He .is a lifelong abstainer, and he, boasts that he and his wife have never had an intoxicating drink in their home.
