PETROL SUBSTITUTE.
CLAIMANT ARRESTED. ALLEGED' FALSE PRETENCES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, ■ Saturday. Gordon Dougail Crawford, aged 23, a chemist’s assistant,' who some months ago claimed to have a formula and process for the making ol' motor spirit xv, (as , spirit, was arrested in Sydney yesterday on a warrant issued in Auckland. It is alleged that he obtained from the agent of the New Zealand ’Petrol Company, Limited a sum of £IOO by false pretences, and that he was selling to the company a formula and process for manufacturing motor spirit, such process and formula being valueless. The company was formed some months ago and for a brief period there was a boom in its shares.
