OTAGO CLUB.
SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL. YEAR’S FINAL FUNCTION; The Otago Club held a very’ enjoyable social last evening to mark the close of a successful year. The host and hostess for the evening were the president and his wife, Mr and Mrs F. W. Platts. There was a very large attendance of members and the funclion was an outstanding success from every point of view. Mr Plktts, in a few words of welcome to members from the Dunedin Club in Auckland, referred to the success of the past year, and added that judging Irom the support accorded the final gathering the coming year should be even more successful. The attendance was a compliment to the efforts of the committee, and he was sure that all the members realised that the formation of the club was a longfelt want to Otagoites. (Applause.)Mr Platts read a telegram from the patron of the club, the Mayor of Dunedin, Mr R. S. Black, wishing the club success at its final evening, and also one from Mr W. G. Wohlmann, Commissioner of Police, thanking them for an invitation and regretting his inability to attend. Songs by Mrs Gordon Brown and Mr R. Braithwaite were greatly appreciated, and the evening was passed in competitions and old-time dancing. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne’ brought the function to a close.
