NEGLIGENT DRIVING.
YOUNG BROTHER KILLED. IMPORTANT RIDER BY JURY. t (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Thursday. In the case in which Frederick James Craig was charged with manslaughter, and, alternatively, with causing the death of his- young brother by negligent driving, the jury returned a verdict of guilty on tiie minor count. Accused was fined £SO, in default two months’ imprisonment. The foreman of the jury said he would like to submit the following rider to 1 the verdict: —“That, as there are apparently a number of motor vehicles on the road that are a menace to their drivers and the public generally, we recommend that stricter supervision of the braidng systems be enforced.”
Mr Justice Kennedy said: “The valuable rider which the jury has added to its verdict will be communicated by me to the authorities charged with the duty of preserving public safety on the roads.”
