A claim for £IO,OOO damages for alleged libel has been made in a writ against the proprietors of the Argus. The writ has been issued on behalf of Mr. Cyril Thornton, who states the defendants published articles on April 22 falsely representing that lie went to India to assist the rebellious Indians to create civil turmoil, and arranged the challenges to the Government of India by publicly breaking the salt laws.
