DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.
TWO HOUSES DESTROYED. HELPER INJURES TIIIGII. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) THAMES,- Friday. ' Art outbreak of lire til Mercury Bay at 10 o'clock last night destroyed two houses. It started in Mr J. Quconan’s house, which was the middle one of three, and the flames spread to Hie others. A bucket brigade saved Mr J. Caldow’s house, but that occupied by Mr A. Barnes' is a total loss. Mr Queenan was not injured, and the amount of Insurance on Mr Barnes’ house is not available. Mr Albert Bowman, one of the ■helpers, fell from a temporary staging injured his thigh.
