WOMEN IN SPORT. NEW RECORDS ESTABLISHED. At the English Women’s 'A.A.A. championships held at Stamford Bridge, London, on August 16, three world’s records were established, with many other flne performances, in a rare afternoon’s sport. The fresh figures wer?: 220 yards in 25 l-ssec by Miss N. Halstead, of the Bury A.C.; mile walk in Bmin 14 2-ssec by Miss C. Mason, of the M.L.A.G.; and 880 yards’ run in 2min 18 l-ssec., by Miss G. Lunn, of the Birchfleld H. Mrs Cornell, of the Mitcham A.C., won the 80 metres hurdles in 12 2-5 sec., and the running broad jump at 18ft 62in; while Miss C. A. Glsolf (Holland) took the running high jump at sft 21n., and Miss L. Fawcett (L.0.A.C.) the discus throw at 96ft liin. Of the other performances about the best was Miss E. M. Wright’s (Cambridge H.) 440 yards in 59 4-5 sec.
In the javelin throw, Miss L. Rombout (Holland) won at 106 ft sin.—a British record.
