Kubelik In Hamilton on Tuesday. Jan Kubelik will give a recital at Hamilton on Tuesday night. A crowded theatre, as in other centres, is assured. The great violinist will give an extra concert (the fourth) at Auckland to-night. An Auckland paper said of the second concert: “The recital given by Jan Kubelik ip the Town Hall last evening was of rare brilliance, and moved the large audience to a pitch of enthusiasm transcending even that of his opening concert. The quiet fla\ylessness of his technique w r as impressive, and, after his rendering of the difficult Paganini concerto he w r as accorded a tribute which was notable for its spontaneous warmth; Violin Valued at £25,000. The Stradivarius violin on which Jan Kubelik will play in Hamilton on Tuesday night is one of the three most famous in the world. It is the well-known “Emperor,” and is valued at £25,000. Performances of “The Messiah.” An invitation has been extended to the New Plymouth, Wanganui and Levin choral societies to visit Wellington in December and combine with the Royal Wellington Choral Union in “The Messiah.”
The date of “The Messiah” performance by the Royal Christchurch Musical Society has been fixed for December 17. Mr Harold Prescott, of Christchurch, has been engaged .as tenor soloist for this year’s “Messiah” by the Royal Wellington Choral Union. Mr Ernest Short, the well-known baritone, has been engaged to sing the "Messiah” so ‘ <:e Christchurch juusicdi society.
