DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.
BLAZE AT INVERCARGILL. ARCADE COMPLETELY GUTTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Thursday,. The Arcade, in Esk Street, a largo two-storeyed brick building containing shops and offices, was completely gutted by fire at 1.30 a.m. The outbreak started in the shop of Mr T. 11. Brewer, a fruit dealer, and spread with great rapidity. The other tenants were: D. R. Kelly (tailor), J. Boyd (land agent), R. J. Gumming (insurance agent), Wairo Goal Gompany, Southland Siiver Beech Company, Radio Club, Girls Club-rooms, and State Fire Insurance. The premises are owned by Colonel Cowie Nicholls, of Oamaru, and are insured in the State Office for £9OOO. The tenants are Mostly insured fa* small amounts.
