ROYAL SHOW.
PEOPLE’S DAY. MARRED by wet weather. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, Thursday. The weather conditions for People’s Day at the Royal : Show are very unfavourable. The morning broke fine but dull. At 11.30 rain came on and the prospects for the afternoon are not bright.. However, the black outlook did not deter large numbers from proceeding to the Tomoana Grounds, and at noon a big ciwd was present. Further Championships. Further championship awards are as follows: —Saddle ponnies: Champion, Desert Song (Mr Thomas Gee, Christchurch). Reserve: Fleetfoot (Mr James Lang, Makotuku). Working draughts: Champion, Andy (Mr Andrew Grant, Fairlie). Reserve: Bob (Mr T. A. Cooper, Havelock North). Hacks: Champion, Skud (Miss M. Stead, Hastings). Reserve: Chancellor (Mr J. H. MacNiveen, Hastings). Thoroughbred stallions: Champion, Beechworth (Messrs W. A. Couper and N. A. Avery, Hastings). Reserve: HymeStra (Mr G. A. Scott, Hastings).
