The Diesel electric power standby plant at present operated at Penrose will be part of the Government stand-by piant of 9900 kilowatts to be provided for Canterbury at a cost of £90,000, said the Minister of Public Works, lion. W. B. Taverner. “It has been found that this will no longer be required at Penrose when the new steam unit of 15,000 k.w. is installed by the Auckland Power Board and wffiich it is expected to have in operation by April, 1931.
