WEDDINGS

DEVEY—GRAINGER. The marriage was solemnised at Te Aroha between Miss Rita Grainger, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Grainger, of Elstow, and Mr Frederick John Devey, third son of Mr and Mrs F. Devey, of Te Aroha. The Rev. H. J. Odell officiated. The bride wore a frock of saxe blue woollen repp, relieved with fawn, and hat to tone. The matron of honour, Mrs 0. M. Kidd, of Palmerston North, wore navy blue velour faced with dark red satin beaute. She wore a pretty black hat and parried a shower bouquet of violets, maidenhair and asparagus fern. Mr R. Devey, brother to the bridegroom, acted as best man. A reception was held after the ceremony at the residence of the bride's parents, after which the happy couple left for Auckland. The future home of Mr and Mrs Devey will be in Hamilton.

DE LUEN—MONTGOMERIE. „ The wedding of Miss Zita Florence Montgomerie, only daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Montgomerie, of “Laurie Rank,” Te Aroha, to Mr John Wilkinson de Luen, son of Mr and Mrs W, H. de Luen, of Mt. Eden, Auckland, was solemnised at St. David’s Church, Te Aroha, on Wednesday evening. The Rev. H. B. Hughes, M.A., was the officiating minister. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a gown of ivory silk net over ivory satin, with hemline touching the ground and flounced to the waist-line, the corsage being tightfltting. Her veil was of hand-worked Brussels net, worn with cap effect, and caught each side with clusters' of orange blossom fastened at the back with a band of rhinestones, forming a long train which was held in place with a horseshoe of rosebuds tipped with silver and silver leaves: She carried a Victorian posy of white roses, snowdrops and maidenhair fern. Miss Win. Banks, of Matamata, the bridesmaid, wore a frock of turquoise blue taffeta and georgette with tight-fitting corsage and bouffant skirt. Her felt hat was of peach pink, turned up in front and fastened at the side with a satin spray of peach blossom. A Victorian posy of pink carnations, daphne and maidenhair fern added to the effect. Mr G. Walsh, of Te Aroha, acted as best man.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, Mrs Montgomerie receiving her guests in a golden brown lace frock with furs and hat to tone. SPENCE —GRIFFITHS. The marriage was solemnised at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian -Church, Claudelands, on June -4, between Emma Florence, daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Griffiths, Okoroire, and John, son of Mr and Mrs Spence, of Hamilton. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely gown of apricot georgette. The embroidered net veil was held in place with orange blossom, and she carried a lovely bouquet of roses and maidenhair fern. Miss E. Shaw was bridesmaid, and wore a froow of leaf green crepe de chine and hat to match. She carried a bouquet to tone. Miss Jean Warren, of Matamata, was flower-girl and wore a frock of pale pink silk and carried a basket of flowers. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Edwin Griffiths, brother of the bride. After the ceremony a reception was given at the home of t'he bride’s sister at Ruakura. The young couple left later by oar for the wedding trip. WOODERSON —LAWRENCE.

An evening wedding was solemnised at the Tamahere Church on Wednesday, July 8, between Miss Lorna Phyllis Mary Lawrence and Mr Lawrence Warren Wooderson. The Rev. Clark officiated, and Mrs W. Windsor played the wedding music. An arch with a bell suspended was prettily arranged in the church by friends of the bride. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a charming gown of ivory georgette with deep hem of silver lace, with a girdle of diamante. S'he wore a tulle veil arranged with orange blossom, and carried a bouquet of pale shaded flowers. The bridesmaid was Miss Rona Lawrence, and Mr Kenneth Wooderson was best man. Miss Lawrence wore a frock of pale green taffeta and georgette and a headdress of pale pink. She carried a bouquet <of pink shaded flowers. After the ceremony the bridal party and guests motored to Hamilton where the wedding breakfast was held. The bride and groom left on an extensive motor tour for their honeymoon, the bride wearing a saxe-blue wool crepe de chine frock trimmed with fawn, with navy coat and hafr. Their future home will be at Whakatane. O’SULLIVAN—STEVENS. The marriage was solemnised at St. Paul’s Church, Ngaruawahia, between Miss Clara Stevens, granddaughter of Mr and Mrs H. J. Saulbrey, “Weeley-,” Ngaruawahia, and Mr Wm. E. O’Sullivan, eldest son of the late Major James O’Sullivan and Mrs O’Sullivan, of “Springfield,” Rotongaro. The Rev. Father .Bleakley, of Hamilton, officiated. The bride, who was given away by her grandfather, wore a beige ensemble and brown velour hat. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Phyllis Stevens, wearing brown floral georgette and felt hat to tone. Mrs H. ,). Saulbrey wore black brocaded silk and black hat, and the bridegroom's mother, Mrs O'Sullivan, fawn crepe de chine and hat to tone. After the ceremony .Mrs S. o. Saulbrey wearing a frock of floral ring velvet, enterlained the guests at her residence, Tangirau Road.
